The RokDock came in a small package however what we first noticed was the weight. It honestly felt like a solid block of aluminum. When we unboxed it we were greeted with a small tool cradled in a styrofoam cutout.  This was the tool which is used to install your lightning cable.

The RokForm RokDock is carved out of a solid block of aircraft grade aluminum which gives it its heft. When we unscrewed the bottom 3 screws of the RokDock, the dock itself came apart into 3 components. There was the main base (providing the majority of the weight), the padded plate on the bottom which served to provide traction so the dock would not move, and finally the cradle where the iPhone 5 would be seated.

Installation of the lightning cable was easy. Once installed the iPhone 5 could be easily seated and removed without any issues. This was not the only benefit of the RokDock, the iPhone 5 could be plugged in and removed with one hand. The finish and design of the RokForm RokDock was simple yet eye-catching, but the surface scuffed a bit easier than we would have liked.

With the increased weight of the RokDock, the cradle does not really move at all when docked or removed. We could safely use the RokDock next to our nightstand without knocking over anything or pulling the cable off the wall outlet, all with one hand. It was also great to know that the RokForm RokDock works with a case given the adjustable tab on the back portion of the RokDock.

Overall, the RokForm RokDock provided an easy way to dock and cradle our iPhone 5 with one hand, no need to hold your hold in place while removing your phone. Coupled with the fact that the RokForm RokDock is constructed of quality aircraft grade aluminum and features a great design, this may be the first and last dock you get for your iPhone 5.

  1. How heavy is the RokDock? What is the weighed weight?

    • Without an electronic scale, I would say it’s close to a pound. With that heft, it remains on your desk pretty snuggly haha.
