We were able to check out the latest version of the Oculus Rift paired with Intel hardware at CES 2014. Gone are the nausea sensations during gaming sessions. The graphics displayed via Oculus Rift were great: full 1080p. Pair that with the latest Eve: Valkyrie demo and you got one hell of a demonstration of the hardware and software.
Head-tracking capability was smooth and worked wonders. Falcon Northwest Tiki boxes with Intel Quad-Core i7 processors were used to run Eve: Valkyrie. Given that the head-tracking technology is a key feature of the Oculus Rift, many of the users were spinning in their chairs trying to shoot down various fighters within the game. My hopes are that future iterations will become smaller and more compact than even the current generation Oculus Rift.
