MiPOW MACA Battery Case Review for the iPhone 4/4S

It is not a surprise that the current iPhone 4S or past iPhone 4 had less than stellar battery life. Case manufacturers captilized on this via battery extender cases which served to not only protect your phone but extend the battery life of the phone. MiPOW is entering the battle with their MACA battery case. How does it stand up and does it have the "juice" you need? Find out in the full review after the break!

Right out of the box you'll probably notice the great anodized metallic finish on the back of the MACA battery case. It has got a great texturized finish to it that not only provide some grip but looks great as well.

Cut outs for the standby/wake and side buttons were wide enough to easily access them, and the headphone jack was shallow enough for easy access by a different pairs of headphones we normally use for testing purposes. The camera/flash cut out was also made wide enough so that no flashback occurred that we noticed when taking photos.

The band around the case is composed of a clear transparent plastic. The inner lining of the case is a rubberized back component, with a plastic bumper. The iPhone 4S slid right into the case without much resistance at all, and the alignment was perfect. The top piece of the MACA slide right on top of the iPhone 4S completing the installation.

What users will notice is that the MACA does not provide a lay on the table design, something some may miss.

With regards to protection in general, the MACA will provide scratch and some shock protection (albeit not a great amount). We would have loved some additional padding on the internal lining of the case.

The primary use of this case lies in its battery which is 2200 mAh. In real world testing, the MACA extended the life our iPhone 4S by essentially double. We were essentially able to charge our dead iPhone 4S from 0% to 100%.

Overall the MiPOW MACA is a great battery case for the iPhone 4S, providing a rather slim profile (when compared with other battery cases) in conjunction with some protection. We would have loved a lay on the table design but overall the MiPOW MACA delivered.
