Impact protection sometimes needs to be taken a step further and in this case Incipio stepped up its game with the DualPro SHINE for the iPhone 6 Plus. Is the DualPro Shine worth its weight in gold? Find out in the full review after the break!
Everyone loves lightweight and thin cases for their smartphones, and it’s no different with the iPhone 6 Plus. The DualPro SHINE was created to further provide the impact protection some crave at the cost of some added weight. Our particular sample had the gold finish and looked great. It stood up well over the course of testing and showed minimal signs of wear.
The installation of the DualPro SHINE was simple requiring first putting on the TPE core and then snapping the more rigid polycarbonate frame over it. While installation was simple, the removal of the case was a bit more difficult requiring slowly prying off two sides of the polycarbonate frame. The build quality of the Incipio DualPro SHINE was impeccable, as we have come to expect from Incipio. No leftover manufacturing material was seen anywhere on either the rigid polycarbonate frame or TPE inner shell.
Once installed, we observed no noticeable issues with camera flash and photos taken with our iPhone 6 Plus still looked as great as ever.
The DualPro SHINE provided great impact protection given the rigid frame and TPE core. We drop tested it from standing height and it bounced but remained unscathed. While the core is contructed of TPE material, it did not attract lint or dust readily. This actually leads us to the one issue we did run into while using the DualPro SHINE, it does not provide much grip at all. In many cases, while holding the iPhone 6 Plus in our hands, it felt as though we could drop the phone at any moment. We tend to like cases that provide a decent grip while not attracting much lint.
Overall, the DualPro SHINE provides great impact protection, but falls short in the grip department. If you’re looking for a highly impact resistant case the DualPro Shine shines, but just make sure you have a tight grip.
