CaseMate recently released their Brushed Aluminum version of their Barely There iPhone 4 Series of cases. We were able to try out the case for a few weeks and have several elements we liked, but there were also elements we did not. Full review after the break.
The brushed aluminum barely there case for the iPhone 4 is essentially a snap on type case with a brushed aluminum backing. It is fairly thin and we did not feel there was much added bulk when the case was on our phone, however the downside is that this also means that this case will not provide much shock protection.
Although if you are even considering this type of case, you are prioritizing thinness and minimal bulk. This case excudes a sense of elegance with the brushed aluminumbacking, even the logo does not look tacky or overdone.
An additional downside we did notice is the lack of lining protection, even a thin layer of rubber or soft touch coating would have been better than the pure solid backing.
One of the last downsides, which is fairly problematic, is if you are a user who likes tothrow your phone in your pocket or do not switch your case fairly often, the brushedaluminum backing does scratch rather easily. We we hoping that it would be able to withstand more punishment than the light usage we put it through.
Overall if you are looking for a thin snap on type case which provides a feeling of elegance, and are ok with minor scratches and wear over time, the CaseMate Barely There Brushed Aluminum case may just be for you. Check out the source link for more info and ordering information.
