Vaja has always created elegant and beautiful cases for Apple related products including the iPhone 4. With the latest release of the iPad 2 they were hard at work creating a suitable case and the product created through this endeavor was the handcrafted Leather Agenda. Let us see how this new addition to the Vaja line stands up to the previous generations of Vaja products, full review right after the break.
The Leather Agenda from Vaja has the following features:
- Vaja exclusive leather
- Slim design
- Secure elastic band closure
- Two tone design
- Sleep mode function
The first thing we noticed as we opened up the box was the amazing smell of leather. It reminded us of that new car smell so many love. Few, if any, on the market are created using genuine leather of this quality.
The leather had a nice soft and supple feeling to it which screamed elegance to us although we were a little disappointed that given the price of this case, the leather showed some signs of marring (you can see some of the white specks in the above photo). After closer examination of the case we noticed a few more small signs of marring on the leather.
The inside of the case had a blue padding which provided decent protection for the screen of the iPad 2 and the back. We would have liked to see a soft felt lining on the inside to give it an even more refined presence but both would have provided the same amount of protection. The stitching was clean and without defects on the internal edges of the case.
Landscape typing positions were available due to the bends present in the case cover. A few adjustments were possible on the incline and angle.
When the case is closed the elastic strap served to keep the lid closed (albeit a bit loose). We were delighted to see that the case cover did possess the sleep mode function present in Apple’s current Smart Covers. The only downside we did notice (which is seen in the above photograph) was that the top portion of our iPad 2 was not protected, exposing much of the standby wake key corner. We would have liked to see additional protection located in this area.
The cut-outs to the standby wake key as well as the side function keys were aligned and easy to access.
The cut-outs for the bottom portion of the case were also well aligned and we heard no interference with regards to the speaker. The 30-pin connector was easily accessible by our various cable alternatives as well.
Overall we were very impressed by the quality of the materials that were used in the creation of the Leather Agenda case from Vaja. Our primary concerns really involved the protection aspect of the case (noted in an earlier section with regards to the top portion of the case). Given the $220 price tag on this case, we were disappointed in the elements of protection that were not present. If you are looking for something that excudes elegance and uses top quality materials, the Leather Agenda may just be for you however if you have a priority on protection, it may fall short for you.
